The Thinking Behind the Newsletter

For 50 years, we have designed and installed AV systems across every sector in Atlantic Canada, hospitals, courthouses, universities, government buildings, and corporate boardrooms. That work generates a lot of practical knowledge that most people never get to see, the actual reasons one room sounds clear and another does not, or why a system that looks identical on paper performs completely differently in practice.

This newsletter is where that knowledge goes. One email a month, written to genuinely teach something, not to sell something. Our goal is simple: to be the resource people in Atlantic Canada turn to when they want a straight answer about AV and acoustics, whether or not they ever become a client.

What You'll Actually Learn

Real AV and acoustics concepts, explained in plain language and grounded in actual projects, not manufacturer marketing. The first issue introduces a framework we use constantly in our own work, the ABCs of Acoustics: Absorb, Block, and Cover.

  • A is for Absorb: soft materials that soak up sound before it bounces around a room
  • B is for Block: physical barriers that stop sound from traveling between spaces
  • C is for Cover: sound masking systems that reduce how far noise and conversation carry

It walks through two real projects at very different scales. At an events pavilion in Halifax, suspended panels brought a soaring, echo-prone room under control without changing how it looked. At an industrial machine shop with 35 foot ceilings, the same absorb principle cut reverberation by more than two thirds, turning a space where safety alerts were hard to hear into one where they are not. Read both in full in our
case studies, including how each project called for a different approach. Future issues go deeper into Block and Cover, along with topics pulled directly from client questions. More on how we work is on our services page.

One More Thing: A 75 Inch TV

To mark the launch, every subscriber is automatically entered to win a 75 inch LG Smart TV, no separate form required. The draw closes July 30, and the winner, a resident of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, or Newfoundland, will be announced in the next issue. Full contest rules are available on our rules page.
